A NEWTON Abbot-based firm is celebrating the completion of a £6million European casino and bingo development.

Family-run company WFC has finished work on the 30,000 sq ft Gala Casino in Gibraltar.

WFC was responsible for the £1.8million interior fit-out of the development which is part of the new Ocean Village complex.

The venue will include bars, a lounge, gaming and bingo areas and a restaurant.

WFC specialises in fitting out luxury leisure and entertainment facilities, as well as carrying out initial building work, mechanical and electrical services.

The company has already completed several multi-million pound developments in Leeds and Manchester, including the high spec Manchester235 casino for London Clubs International.

The company specialises in making bespoke joinery fittings such as bar and reception counters, DJ counters, drink shelving, and other fitted furniture.

Most of the wood and architectural metal work were crafted in its Kingsteignton Road workshops, which Phil Waggett, contracts director of WFC, says is key to the firm's success.

The company employs 80 staff in its Newton Abbot head office and had a £20million turnover in 2008.

WFC, whose clients include Holiday Inn, Mecca Bingo, Gala Bingo, Fitness First and David Lloyd Leisure, hopes the project will pave the way for more business opportunities abroad.

Mr Waggett said: "We were delighted to have worked on this project and we enjoyed dealing with the logistical challenges of working overseas. The project was completed well within the deadline which is a reflection of the professionalism and dedication of our in-house team."

Mr Waggett previously told the Herald Express: "There is a lot of development in Gibraltar at the moment and we hope to become a presence there."
