Floral tributes were left at the scene of the fatal accident in Paignton town centre yesterday by members of the public.
One note left with the bunches of flowers said: "I couldn't sleep last night thinking about you. May you rest in peace. My heart goes out to your family."
Isabelle Johnson, chairwoman of K&C Management who help run the Kingswood Court flats, in Cleveland Road, where Mrs Redgrave lived for 10 years, said: "She lived very quietly, she shopped in town and had her hair done once a week. She would sit and read the Daily Telegraph most days.
"She was well liked here and she was a very happy person."
Mrs Redgrave, who was in her mid-eighties, died after suffering multiple injuries when she collided with a lorry just before midday on Monday in Palace Avenue.
The busy shopping area was closed off at 11.50am as police investigated the scene of the accident and was not re-opened again until 7pm last night.
Firefighters erected a tarpaulin tent around the scene of the accident and police Sgt Dave Pebworth said thanked all those who tried to help Mrs Redgrave in the moments after the accident, saying these were 'traumatic circumstances'.
Paramedics treated witnesses and the driver, a 40-year-old Paignton man, for shock with 16 people being taken to the Lime Tree pub for treatment.
Mrs Johnson, explained that Mrs Redgrave was known as 'Bud', a name her mother gave her when she was a child.
"Doris had a tremendous amount of books and she was always the person to go to if you wanted some reading material.
"She will be missed. She loved to chat to people and everybody in the building knew her well.
"She was very friendly, she was very helpful. She was a very, very nice person and wouldn't do anyone any harm and it is sad to think that she has gone that way.
"She will be very sadly missed by all of the residents of Kingswood Court, she was one of the nicest people you could meet," said Mrs Johnson.
