Footballers unite for Newton Abbot charity memorial match
FOOTBALLERS will come together to play and support a charity game in memory of John Drinkwater at The Recreational Trust, Newton Abbot, this evening.
John, a much-loved player, manager and referee, died of a brain tumour in October, 2002.
The match, in aid of Cancer Research, will mark the tenth anniversary of his death and has been organised by his family and football pals.
"Our dad was an avid player himself, an amazing coach to many children and a firm but fair referee," said his daughter Fay, on the Just Giving page set up for the event.
