Girl hurt in collision with car windscreen
A 12-YEAR-OLD girl in Dawlish escaped with cuts and bruises after colliding with a car and smashing its windscreen on impact.
The youngster was able to seek help nearby before the emergency services arrived at the scene in Brunswick Place on Friday evening.
One witness at the scene said after the accident just before 8.30pm it appeared the girl had been playing with friends before the incident.
He added: "She was very shaken afterwards, but fortunately nothing was broken. She wasn't making much sense as you might expect."
An ambulance spokesman confirmed the youngster suffered a few injuries, but nothing which was life-threatening.
The youngster, who has not been named, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital at Wonford.
The witness, who gave his name but did not want it printed, said he understood the youngster had since been discharged from hospital.
Police say no one in the car involved was hurt, although one of the occupants was said to be distressed by the incident.
A spokesman said the youngster had gone to a nearby pub where she was able to find her father.
