A TEENAGE girl and three dogs were rescued after being cut off by the tide in Teignmouth.

Brixham coastguard co-ordinated the rescue with Teignmouth coastguard and the town's RNLI lifeboat crew when the call out came in shortly before 4pm on Friday.

The girl became trapped on the Salty, opposite the Point car park, in the middle of the River Teign.

The girl and one dog were taken ashore by the crew and the other dogs made it to shore unaided.

"I think she was a bit surprised and cold by the time the lifeboat made it to her," said Tony Watson, Teignmouth RNLI press officer.

"It took about 20 minutes to resolve the situation."
