Gong for school meals company
THE company which supplies school lunches to Torbay Council has been awarded the Silver Food for Life Catering Mark.
Eden Foodservice supplies hot lunchtime meals to 23 primary and special schools across the Bay.
The certification, awarded by the Soil Association, recognises the use of fresh, Fair Trade, local and organic ingredients including farm assured meat and sustainable fish.
Torbay Council's executive lead for children, schools and families, Cllr Chris Lewis, said: "This latest announcement is fantastic. It is a real testament to the partnership working between the council and Eden Foodservice and serves to reassure parents that their children are eating nutritious meals."

During the stringent examination process, Eden Foodservice was required to meet strict criteria which included:
Freshly preparing at least 75 percent of all dishes on site.
Ensuring meals contain no undesirable food additives, hydrogenated fats or GM ingredients.
Using meat which conforms to UK welfare standards.
Using free range eggs.
The meals are available across the 23 schools at a cost of £2.05 or are free to those who qualify for free school meals.
