'Good demand' expected for former GA building plan
PROPERTY experts predict 'good demand' for new retail units in St Marychurch.
Alder King is marketing the outlets, which are part of the £3million redevelopment at the former GA building site.
Sainsbury's has already pledged interest in creating a store at the site.
Dominic Rosenbaum, marketing agent of Alder King, said: "This is an exciting new scheme and offers retailers from a range of uses to occupy prime space in this popular suburb adjacent to a brand new Sainsbury's convenience store.
"We anticipate good demand for a scheme of this type."
The project is being undertaken by landowners the Freshwater Group, represented by agents Total Property Solutions.
The company is planning to start demolition this summer with completion of the scheme in early 2013.
The land is currently occupied by the former General Accident Insurance offices, which have been derelict for about 10 years.
Developers say the new development will open up the site and provide valuable new retail provision for St Marychurch and Babbacombe.
Mr Rosenbaum said the available units are configured in a courtyard style with new leases offered on a pre-let basis.
The scheme includes a variety of units to accommodate requirements from 500 sq ft to 3,750 sq ft.
The properties have retail consent but a variety of other uses will be considered, subject to planning consent.
