Carla said: "You have all been so kind and every penny of your donations has gone to giving Isla the send-off she deserves — fit for a princess.

"Thanks for all your support. It's genuinely carried us this far."

The seven-month old baby died on Tuesday, February 18, in intensive care at Bristol Royal Children's Hospital after being discovered unconscious by her parents Ms Thompson and Michael Kelly.

More than £5,000 has been raised for the youngster's funeral by more than 1,000 people who have pledged support for her grief-stricken family.

Businesses have been selling wrist ribbons for baby Isla to help raise money in memory of the little one.

Leela Hope, 28, from Torquay, has been distributing the bands to outlets throughout Torbay.

They can be bought at Carters, Hele, the Country House pub, Ellacombe, Applebys, House of Beauty, Wellswood and the Kents Pub.

Ms Hope, who works for an entertainment agency, said she knows of the family and wanted to help in some way.

She said: "I lost my brother five years ago and know how awful it was for all of us and mum especially.

"This is a way for people to remember Isla and carry her with them always.

"I have had requests for ribbons from up and down the country.

"It has touched people who did not even know Isla but who want to remember her."

Close family friends Holly Connors and Ben Taylor organised the fundraising page for Isla X at gofundme.com.

Ben said: "We have been amazed by the response and in such a short space of time. It is really heartening so many people want to give Isla the funeral she deserves."

The family want to thank Louise Hardman, JD Bar, The Country House pub and Hunger Over Breakfast deliver for their fundraising help.

The inquest into Isla's death was opened in Bristol by coroner Maria Voisin on Monday, February 26.

Deborah Neil, coroner's officer, told the hearing Isla, of Stone Court, Torquay, died at the children's hospital on February 18, 2013.

The youngster was admitted after being transferred from Torbay Hospital following a cardiac arrest.

She had been found by her parents between the cushion and the arm of the sofa. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed. The inquest was adjourned and is being transferred to Torbay and South Devon Coroner Ian Arrow.
