TORQUAY United's youth team lost on penalties 5-4 to Topsham Town in the final of the first South Devon Football, Food & Drink Festival at Bovey Tracey.

It came down to a shoot-out after a 1-1 draw at Mill Marsh Park.

Striker Ashley Yeoman, who hit eight goals in four matches, also scored in the final of the youth tournament.

The young Gulls had beaten Bovey 6-0 (with Richard Westcott pictured getting stuck in) and Kingsteignton Athletic 1-0 in their group.

They also knocked out Plymouth Argyle's Under-16 team 3-0 in the semi-finals.

United youth manager Matt Williams said: "It was disappointing to lose in the final, but give credit to Topsham.

"We tried to do the right things right through the tournament, and we passed the ball as well as anyone, even allowing for the standard of the competition.

"It was a good tournament, and it came at the right time for us."
