Scott Rendell returned to the Gulls starting line-up for the visit of Crewe, taking the place of Ashley Barnes, who has returned to Argyle.

Wayne Carlisle also returned from injury, relegating Eunan O'Kane to the bench.

Mark Ellis had a header cleared off the line by Steve Schumacher in the 17th minute and Carlisle flashed a shot wide a few moments later.

Rendell put the Gulls in front after 38 minutes, tucking the ball in from close range after a run and cross from the left by Chris Zebroski.

Crewe's Shaun Miller missed a penalty after 78 minutes.

Clayton Donaldson equalised with five minutes to go, shooting home after good work by Shaul Miller.
