Happy Horrible Birthday for Torquay Library
"Friends, Romans, countrymen lend me your ears" local residents are cordially invited to a Horrible Histories day to celebrate Torquay Library's 75th birthday on Saturday January 26.
The Friends of Torquay Library have joined forces with Torbay Council to put on the event from 10am until 1pm which will include a photo display showcasing the library's opening in 1938 and free coffee for those attending. Youngsters are also being encouraged to dress up as their favourite historical character, perhaps a knight, Roman Centurion, a king or a queen? There will even be a prize for the best costume.
Executive Lead for Culture and Arts, Cllr Dave Butt, said: "The library on Lymington Road has come a long way over the last 75 years but one thing that hasn't changed is the vital role it plays within the local community.
"Everyone is invited to join us in this landmark celebration and if you are not already a member then why not come along and sign up for free."
