            The

Harbertonford Playground Refurbishment Project has been funded through the

Community Spaces programme. The Community Spaces grants programme is being

managed by Groundwork UK as an Award Partner to the Big Lottery

Fund. Community Spaces is part of the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces

initiative.

        Upon

completion of the project in 2011 we were awarded a sustainability grant from

the Community Spaces fund to promote the playground within the community to

ensure its sustainability for the foreseeable future.  This grant is

being used to run six workshops in conjunction with Harbertonford Church of

England Primary School.  We have already held a willow workshop in

which children made butterflies and moths out of willow, a 'teddy bear's

picnic' with the under 5's, a storytelling session for the whole school, and a

ceramic tile workshop to design a sign to be erected in the playground in the

near future.

The penultimate "Hearts in the Park" session will be run by

the Harbertonford Pre-School Group for any children in the village under 5

years of age in the village playground itself.  Children will be able

to make and decorate clay tiles, make kites and generally have lots of fun!
