Herald Express baby contest is under way
THE Herald Express Baby and Toddler of the Year 2013 photo sessions have begun.
Parents and children flocked to Sainsbury's in Paignton today to have their pictures taken for the contest.
A photographer will be at various cafes and supermarkets to take photos of youngsters for the competition, which is free to enter.
They will be at Sainsbury's Paignton again tomorrow Tuesday.
They will then move to Mr Biscuits Cafe in Market Walk, Newton Abbot, on Wednesday.
Glyn Newport, who owns the cafe, is thrilled to be involved and will be giving away a biscuit to all customers who take part in the competition.
"It's the first time I've got involved in this contest," he said.
"Our unique selling point is that we have a toddlers' playroom at the cafe and plenty of our customers are mums with youngsters.
"Therefore, the competition fits in perfectly for us."
Parents wanting to enter the competition can also head to Sainsbury's at The Willows, Torquay, on March 14 and 15.
Dot's Pantry in Union Street, Torquay, will also host photo sessions from March 16 to 19.
Owners John and Dot Doherty said they are looking forward to the photos sessions.
"We're a new business and have been in town less than two years. We hope that people will come and see us," said John.
"We're keen to share our facilities and make the pantry a community hub.
"We're a family friendly business and we welcome mum's who breastfeed. We've got a blind in the corner of the cafe for those who want privacy."
The photo sessions conclude at Tesco, Newton Abbot, on March 20.
Photographers will be at the venues from 9.45am until 4.30pm.
The winner of the competition will win a family trip to Disneyland Paris courtesy of Majestic coach holidays.
