THE Herald Express is backing new manager Alan Knill's call for Torquay United fans to help the Gulls' fight against relegation with Two-For-One ticket deals for both next week's vital home games against Chesterfield and York City.

Former Rotherham, Bury and Scunthorpe boss Knill has been buoyed by the way that Plainmoor regulars have stuck with the team during a worrying run of ten games without a win.

"I think our supporters have been terrific since I've been here," said Knill.

"Despite a lot of disappointements, they've stayed 'onside', and they were really noisy against Oxford last Saturday.

"They're doing their bit all right."

Now the Herald is helping to crank up the atmosphere for Tuesday's match against Chesterfield and the 'six-pointer' against York City with the two ticket offers.

Vouchers in today's Herald and next Thursday's issue will enable fans to claim a free ticket for every one bought at full-price for the Family Stand.

The vouchers can be exchanged at the club ticket office or at the turnstiles on matchday.

"From bringing teams down to Plainmoor over the years, I know what it can be like here when a big crowd really gets behind Torquay," said Knill.

"Our home games will be vital, and our fans have a big part to play.

"I've no fears about our regulars, but it would be great for the place to be jumping for the two games next week."

United have come up with an offer of their own for the York match on March 23.

With top games suspended for World Cup qualifiers, the Gulls are offering £5 admission to any fan producing a valid season-ticket for any club in the Premier League or Championship.
