BT has announced that high-speed fibre broadband is now available to the first homes and businesses in Dartmouth. Around 3,000 local householders and firms in the town have been connected in the latest phase of the BT Openreach rollout. The project aims to make the high speed technology available to around two-thirds of the UK's homes and businesses by the end of 2014, using a mix of fibre-to-the-cabinet and fibre-to-the-premises technologies. Newton Abbot, Plymouth, Exeter and Ivybridge have already gone live under the scheme, with local communities earmarked for upgrades by the end of 2013, including Teignmouth, Dawlish, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and Totnes.
