Inquiry date set on 100 homes
A DATE has been set for a planning inquiry over plans by Linden Homes to build 100 new homes in Totnes.
Twice now, the Newton Abbot construction firm has seen its plans turned down for the Bridgetown riverside site following concerns by residents over access points.
The first application was appealed by Linden Homes over a 'no' decision from South Hams Council's planning committee.
The company later submitted a second planning application which was opposed by hundreds of residents who felt it would generate extra traffic in the area.

Bridgetown residents also opposed the plans because the only access road, which highway experts on the district and Devon Council supported, would have been built on land not earmarked for development.
Tom Maughan, from the Bridgetown Alliance said: "It should be quite an interesting meeting. We are geared up for this planning inquiry. We have a retired barrister and our two district councillors working on this. They have been marvellous.
"We are not opposed to the development of these 100 homes, just the infrastructure and access point. It would create a gated community and generate considerably more traffic.
"If Linden Homes eased off on these aspects I can imagine they could build the houses and get their money."
The planning inquiry will take place in the Totnes civic hall from January 8-10 with inspector Neil Pope in charge.
