Inspirational games for learning disabled
WITH the Paralympics 2012 nearly upon us, ROC Active, together with Sport England, Active Devon and many other partner organisations, has been inspired to organise a programme of Olympic-style events for people with learning disabilities.
The Inspirational Multi-Sports Games will be taking part in the Herald Express's loveLIFE campaign, and will be aiming to complete one million steps through the multi-sports games, which will include athletics, curling, handball and Zumba.
The event has been organised to inspire people with learning disabilities to take part in new and different sports within the community.
The aim is to encourage them to continue participating in sports on a regular basis. Sports-enabling services, like ROC Active, help them to do this by building up their confidence and ability, and then linking them with local sports clubs. It is hoped this will have longer term benefits for people's health.
