Ipplepen edge win over Dartington & Totnes with one ball to go
IPPLEPEN defeated Dartington & Totnes by seven wickets in an U11 game which went down to the penultimate ball.
Star of the show for D&T was Robbie Luscombe who hit six fours on his way to 31 retired, while Ollie Payne (16) and Alex Hartridge (20) also chipped in with some lusty blows towards a total of 96 for five.
Ipplepen could have been chasing a much bigger total, but skipper Liam Price (3-0-9-2) and Callum Thomas (3-0-11-0) put the brakes on the run scoring in the middle overs. Price accounted for the dangerous Payne who was brilliantly caught one-handed by Harry Dyer while Jack Hingston (3-1-15-1) sent back Alex Hartridge as the Darts batter looked set for a maximum.
When the Pens batted Dyer went cheaply to Hartridge, but Liam Price (29) and Charlie Cousens (21no) added 45 for the second wicket in just eight overs.
Corey Price (20) and Cousens showed great intelligence to keep the scoreboard ticking as their partnership added 41 before Price was bowled by Hartridge at the start of the penultimate over.
Pens needed eight to win off the last over and great running between Cousens and Callum King got them.
TEN-man Kingsbridge U13s went to Paignton and defeated the home side by three wickets with three balls to spare.
Paignton posted a creditable 120 for seven with C Slough retiring on 33 supported by Dan Wolffe (19) and Harry Ward 18 not out.
Freddie Buckle (3-30) and J Mason (2-16) took the wickets.
Kingsbridge got off to a shaky reply before Fred Massey (31) got them near and Greg Luckhurst (21no) saw them home.
STOKE Gabriel's winning streak in the U15 A Division continued as they dispatched Shaldon by three wickets.
Shaldon were bowled out in the 19th over for a total of 101, James Twigg (23) and Sam Fellowes (13) the leading scores.
Dan Escott (3-10) and Angus Lee (3-10) did the damage for Stoke.
Stoke made a shaky start, losing two wickets for two runs, but Escott (28) steadied the team. Lee (17) and Rob Harris (18) and a helpful (29) from extras got Stoke over the line with three overs to spare.
