The Scribes Present Ill Literature -Review
"Ill Literature" is a collaborative production bought to you by the combined talents of banging beat maker/lyricist Shaun Amos ( The Scribes front man) ,multi instrumentalist and bassist Jake Galvin ( who has previously worked with Cosmo Jarvis ) singer/guitarist Jack Joyce along with a host of other musicians and producers including additional instrumentation and production from Josiah Manning (Momentum Studios), Jamie Rowland (BBC/The Rising) and Jonny Steel (fellow Scribes member)to form what is without doubt one of 2012's album highlights of the year.
Recorded over the last year in a relaxed non pressured environment after a chance free flowing jam session ,the result of which includes track one on this ten track album.
"Buried" so catchy it actually hurts .It's roots firmly in hip hop and backed up by booming beats, a rock solid bass line and what is without doubt the tip of this momentous hip hop ice burg .

Remember how this music used to be? Lyrics that always had something to say on a social commentary level instead of naked girls and fast car innuendo ?
Welcome to the new dawn.
A nod to the past with two eyes on the now .Intelligent yet soulful content whilst striking you dumb with the shear musicianship of it all.
Whether it be the grand piano textured "Not A Dancer" or the funk guitar shake down that is "Burning Bridges " a track so evident in hooks they made it into my favourite radio show jingle .
First single Monsters being the most conventional in amongst unconventional company
So many artists only ever use the tools they know about. This collective actually sound like a true collective not some PR hand me down idea embracing the organic energy and excitement of what they don't know about. Who knew sounding like your having a good time could be this cool. Which in turn makes your ears smile in sweet relieve that despite the current backdrop of Simon Cowell flavoured musical sewerage . Good music is being made, close to home and the choice is yours for the taking !
It will be interesting to see if the new fully loaded Scribes album "A Story All About How" can live up to the high bar of this realise .
If it can then 2013 will be the year of the Scribes.
