THE day had come to start the building work on putting an additional bedroom into the roof space of our home.

Soon, walls were being knocked away, roof tiles had to come off, decoration was being chipped in places and dust was everywhere.

I thought back to its original state of being weather proof and nicely decorated and tidy.

To get perspective I had to look towards what it would be like when finished.

We would have a superb sea view and extra space.

It is easy to hold on to things in life which give us security but the lesson here was that we are going to have to experience times of disruption and change, to allow for new and better things to take place.

God is the architect of our lives. We are not the building foreman of our own lives — God is.

Follow His instructions because He has a great plan and purpose for your life.

The Christian life can be likened to a building site, where God reveals things in our lives which are wrong or ineffective and which need to be demolished to allow Him to rebuild within us, His good and fruitful ways.

Paul the apostle wrote 'encourage one another and build each other up...' (I Thess 5:11)

When Paul said farewell to the church in Ephesus to travel to Jerusalem he said to them: "Now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up..." (Acts 20:32)

If you are you in need of some encouragement and comfort right now, like Paul, you can be assured that God's word will build you up and strengthen you.

“You wouldn't be able to construct god these days with all the planning regulations.”

“Talking about building an extra bedroom, it's a fact that God is a man made construct too!”
