JIM COLLINS: Insurance can't help with life's worries but Jesus can
WE bought a new electric cooker a few years ago — the old one had served us for almost 28 years!
As soon as we had agreed to buy it, the saleswoman went straight into explaining about the after-sales insurance that was available for either three or five years.
For an extra payment, we could have peace of mind, should the cooker break down after the initial guarantee.
We did take the extra cover, and we've had the benefit of a repair being carried out with no cost to us.

Soon after, I had a phone call from my car insurers offering us cover for personal injury — should we be involved in an accident.
For 40p a week, I could again buy that peace of mind.
There is now insurance available for most things, including private health, weddings, travel, residential care for the future and credit payment cover.. but what do we do about our day to day worries and concerns when we are faced with difficult decisions, disappointment, heartache and brokenness?
Insurance can't help here — but Jesus can.
He said: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)
Paul wrote: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus". (Philippians 4:6-7)
God is our assurance and confidence at all times and in all situations.
