Julien will fight Bay seat for UKIP
INDEPENDENT councillor Julien Parrott is to stand in the forthcoming General Election as a Parliamentary candidate for the Torbay constituency.
Mr Parrott, who has been an independent councillor for Ellacombe in Torquay for more than two years, was the sole candidate standing for selection as the Torbay prospective parliamentary candidate of the UK Independence Party.
-

He said: "I am standing for something I believe in. I have never belonged to a political party in all my life so that's an indication of how important I think this is.
"It is a measure of how seriously I, and many others, take this as all the other major parties have wasted so much time and have not come to a credible position."
UKIP constituency chairman Mike Simpson said Mr Parrott was a replacement for another prospective candidate who had to drop out through ill-health.
Mr Simpson said: "Julien was the only one to come forward as a candidate."
Mr Parrott, who runs a launderette in Ellacombe, was one of the independent candidates in the 2005 race to be elected mayor, coming 12th in a field of 14.
He stood in the council elections in May 2007 as an independent and was elected.
On the council he was chairman of the scrutiny and overview board for more than a year until he resigned in September last year, claiming he 'jumped before he was pushed'.
He joined the independent group on the council in September.
He is a former Audley Park pupil (now Torquay Community College), who became a civil servant before moving into the construction and engineering industries.

“Nick W : I've known Julien ( and Sue) for over 20 years. I can certainly attest that Julien is NOT 'anti foreigners' - he is simply concerned - like many of us - that we are in danger of losing the values and principles we have established in this great country of ours over hundreds of years. Of course we have been enriched by foreign immigrants to our country - UKIP do not I think believe otherwise. They simply recognise that it is perhaps time to put up a fight to protect what we have got before we become a backwater state in a Federal Europe. You should be grateful that somebody as principled as Julien has decided to stand - he would make a fantastic MP. At least he is a 'real' person who has worked all his life in proper jobs, unlike most of the current lot of MP's. Living in Surrey as I do we just end up with ex bankers and barristers as our MP's !”

“Well it wasn't me questioned your statistics, Ian, I took them as read but then suggested they didn't actually prove anything. If you held a poll you would probably get a large majority in favour of abolishing taxes, but that doesn't mean it would be a wise thing to do.
My point with my doctor crack was:
If you need specialist advice, is it better to consult one expert who knows what he is talking about?
Or 100 laymen who don't know what they are talking about?
But in the end I think we are simply going to have to agree to differ.....”

“My big concern is that if we pull out of the European "gang", then we will become a tiny, insignificant little island once more - It will only be a matter of time before we become the 51st State of the United States (although some would argue that this has already happened...) We don't have the infrastructure to stand on our own two feet anymore - it was either sold off or closed down in the 80's, and this was nothing to do with Europe.”

“Loon
Yes there are always holes in the fence !. but that is very different from 'deliberately making those holes.
Not once have I ever said 'they come over here and take our jobs"... in all the hundreds of letters I have written to the Herald, nor has any other from UKIP.
Good luck to them I say.. to getting jobs here legally ! as this seems is what this government WANTS to happen ! Question is, can we carry on like this indefinitely though ?
"racial purity" now you are using racist words. ! Which UKIP for sure is NOT !”

“I certainly won't be voting for Julien, but I hope lots of others do.
I wish him limited success !”

“Ian, We don't have an empire any more... Even if we did, I doubt that they would want to do us any favours.
Also, the vast majority of the press is Euro-sceptic, and the views of many people are coloured by stories in the media that are either exaggerated or, in some cases, totally made up.”

“Ian, I gather that quite a few people trip across the Mexican border and disappear into the vast US hinterland - thus America doesn't have a clue how many illegal immigrants it has.
As to the old "they come over here and take our jobs" argument... doesn't Mr Trago hire loads of eastern Europeans? He claims that this is due to "European Beaurocracy" making it easier for him to hire non-uk workers... I suspect that East Europeans are happier to travel out to the back end of beyond to work for minimum wages... What do they say? "One volunteer is worth 10 pressed men"? Of course we could forsake workforce quality for the sake of racial purity...”

“"If I have got the wrong end of the stick I do apologise, but in essence that is what UKIP stand for-they want out of the EU so no more economic migrants".
Nick.
What UKIP want (and don't tell us what you THINK that we say) is for us to have an Immigration policy in this country similar the USA, Australia or Canada. This is not racist in anyway to say so. This country has a long proud history of welcoming and protecting migrants from tyranny's.
This is not what UKIP is talking about . UN-controlled immigration is.
If I want to live and work in the USA I must apply for a 'Green card' to do so. This is their 'rules' and I must obey them to get work their country and they get the workers they need, and they know who enters and leaves
At the very least we too should KNOW who comes across our borders.. The government ADMIT they actually have NO IDEA but say it might be "A Million" and some estimate's up to 10 million. This is madness.”

“Actually, I followed the link to Julian's website and I think you'll find that the passage you quote is acutally a question from somone else on the QandA page. Julian's reply is the opposite of what you write so I think you do owe Julian's wife an apology.”

“It states this on Julien's website: "I have noticed a huge increase in the number of foreigners in Ellacombe and in Torbay as a whole. Now I know that some of these are the language students but many also seem to be Eastern Europeans who have come here. I think there should be some sort of limit on the numbers of these people, they are taking the jobs of local people and also taking their housing and making the queues at the doctors even longer."
If I have got the wrong end of the stick I do apologise, but in essence that is what UKIP stand for-they want out of the EU so no more economic migrants.”
