THIRTY hours of bouncing marked the 30th anniversary of Torbay Olympic Gymnastics Club.

The club, which is based in Barton Hill Way, Torquay, organised the mammoth bounceathon as part of a week-long celebration showcasing the club's talent.

After years of struggling for its own suitably sized premises, the club moved into its current venue in 2007 and membership has grown to approximately 1,200 individuals.

The club offers sessions six days a week, catering for babies right through to adults, in gymnastics, tumbling, trampolining and cheerleading, as well as offering a number of classes for many special needs.

Current committee member Liz Loly, an ex-gymnast competing with the club in the 80s and 90s and mother of a current mini-squad gymnast said: "The club has always had a friendly feel for gymnasts, parents and even grandparents and despite growing significantly in numbers the community spirit is still present.

"It is fantastic to see the club reaching out to so many people of different ages, affluence and skill levels.

"To celebrate 30 years is a fantastic achievement and a credit to the many volunteers and staff who have worked tirelessly over the years to make the club what it is today."
