Landlords' open evening in Teignbridge
Established and prospective landlords in Teignbridge can take advantage of free open evening to help them set up, manage and end tenancies.
Teignbridge Council is putting on the event which brings experts and information providers together under one roof so local landlords have all the information they need to run tenancies effectively.
The free landlords open evening is being held on Thursday 21 March 2013 from 6pm until 9pm in Old Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot.
The event is specifically designed for landlords and those thinking of letting a property. It will include a series of mini seminars – each 15 minutes long – with experts on areas which are of importance to landlords or may have an impact on how they run a tenancy. For example, Universal Credit and changes in legislation, tax planning, houses in multiple occupation, deposit protection and what to do if a tenant is behaving in an anti-social manner.

Teignbridge will also have representatives on hand to help answer questions on Housing Benefit, Council Tax and making sure properties are energy efficient.
Cllr Philip Vogel, Teignbridge District Council’s Executive Spokesman for Housing and Planning, said:
“We have already held a number of really successful events for landlords and this event has been designed for newcomers to the letting process, individuals as well as professionals.
“These events have been really useful in understanding the issues that matter most and how we can help each other fill in the gaps in any knowledge. We can help keep inexperienced and experienced landlords safe and bring together a range of experts in providing information and help.
“By working closely with landlords Teignbridge hopes they will benefit from being more acquainted with current housing legislation and good practice, while the Council improves services by understanding the issues that confront landlords and their tenants and in turn this helps raise public awareness and confidence.”
The course is open to new and existing Teignbridge landlords. There is need for people to book, just turn up on the night.
