Lee's aim is to make his clients look beautiful

SOUTH Devon College has appointed a salon manager at its new hair and beauty skills academy, based within the Newton Abbot Campus.

Lee Taylor, 30, (pictured above) is responsible for the team at the Pearl Assurance House-based training salons, where full-time, part-time and evening courses in hairdressing and beauty therapy are offered.

Open to the public, the training salons offer a range of treatments provided by students who are working towards their qualifications in hair and beauty therapy.

Lynda Blackmore, hair and beauty section head at the college, said: "Lee brings a wealth of experience, passion and enthusiasm for the industry which will be an asset to enhance the experience of our learners.

Lee says: "My philosophy is to make clients look beautiful by creating hairstyles which enhance their natural features."

Lee's early career was in retail, care, and customer service — it was his own hairdresser who suggested a career change back in 2006.

He secured an apprenticeship with Roma in Totnes, later re-named Amanda Marsden Lifestyle Salon and Spa, where he worked for five years, becoming salon manager in 2010.
