Library closed for revamp
TORQUAY Library is to be closed to the public for a week while building work is carried out.
Council bosses said the work was necessary to make the facilities easier to use for customers and improve access.
The work will bring the Torquay Library on a par with the Paignton one, where a single desk acts as a single point of contact for customers and users.
Member for culture and arts Cllr Dave Butt said: "We are always looking for new ways to improve the way in which it delivers its services. The upcoming building works are part of our ongoing improvements and will allow the lending staff and reference team to be located together, as opposed to opposite ends of the library.

"This will allow our customers to receive a first class service from one location. We will also be installing a pay and print kiosk and computers are being relocated from the balcony to the ground floor of the library."
The work will be carried out during the week starting Monday, September 17.
Torquay Library will re-open at 9.30am on Monday, September 24.
The libraries in Paignton, Brixham and Churston and the mobile service will remain unaffected and return dates for loans from Torquay Library in the run-up to the closure will be extended automatically.
