When Sir Cameron Mackintosh spoke to the Herald Express last month he said the project would redefine how movies are made.

He said: "What is really groundbreaking is this is the first film ever to be recorded live, in every way.

"The studio wasn't even sure if we could do it. We have been running tests and I think it is going to change the way that people film a musical forever."

Lily's part is called Turning Girl which is a small but featured role.

The film has the same casting director as The Kings Speech and thousands of girls were auditioned both here and the States.

Mum Rebecca Laight said: "Lily has learnt so much from her time with the RSC and is exceptionally grateful to them for the experience and training they have given her whilst working with the creative team on Matilda.

"The coaching , support and insight the RSC have given her is invaluable. She has loved every minute but will be leaving her current role as Amanda Thripp at the end of April. Filming for Les Miserables will start in May at Pinewood Studios".

She added: "We are very proud of Lily. She has a maturity beyond her years and at just 10 years, she so focused, and dedicated, she continues to surprise us daily".
