SEVERAL years ago, I was recovering from what my doctor has described as some virus.

After two weeks, I still tired quickly and the cough lingered!

Searching on the internet, I discovered that once viruses are in the body they are quite tough to kill, and antibiotics are powerless against them.

I went on to read that a study at a university in Arizona has shown that something viruses are exposed to all the time — visible light — can be used to kill them.

A strong blast of visible light from a low-power laser can kill viruses.

The laser which shines for 100 femtoseconds — one millionth of a billionth of a second! — causes the virus's outer shell to vibrate and become damaged and deactivated while the area around the virus remains unharmed.

The Bible also speaks of the importance of light bringing healing and wholeness into our lives.

Our human nature is like a deadly virus — causing us to sin, with the side effects of guilt, shame, pain, brokenness and separation from God.

The Good News is that God's light shines in the darkness (John 1:5a). Jesus said "Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light." (John 3:21a) and "I have come into the world as a light, so that no-one who believes in me should stay in darkness". (John 12:46)

In 1 John 1:7, we read: "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from every sin."

May we live life to the full in the glorious light that Jesus gives.

“No such thing as God, it's just a man made construct!”
