Local business provides a weatherproof fund raiser for local school
It's every school fund raising committe's worst nightmare - planning an outdoor fund raising event! Luckily for Diptford School a local business, Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, has offered their venue to the Friends of Diptford Parochial C of E Primary School (FODS).
Wheeldon have two indoor dirt tracks, usually used to train people to ride off-road motorcycles in a safe all weather environment but it doubles as a great cycling venue. The charity 'Family Cycle Day' is to be held on Sunday 24 March 2013 between 11.00 - 16.00. The event is aimed at getting families active in a weatherproof environment and to raise some required funds for the school.
The event is open to all - children,young teens and parents. The tracks are suitable for all abilities and even includes a specific BMX indoor ramp area* hosted by Fortitude Bike Park. There will be hot home-cooked food, available to purchase between 12 - 3pm, with light refreshments for sale all day.
Denise Hawkins, FODS Chairperson: "This is the second year Wheeldon have offered to run this event. It was a great success in 2012 and provided a fantastic guaranteed family day out. This year the school has asked FODS to raise funds to re-furbish the library. We hope to provide new book displays cabinets, comfy seating areas, re-decorate and update the books. The area will be designed to excite and engage young readers and provide a stimulating environment for the whole school to use for many years to come".
