A butcher is bringing home the bacon after a lucky £2 punt saw him win £80,000 on a Lottery scratch card.

Tristan Lilburn, 28, decided to spend the change he had from buying euros for an upcoming holiday on a Bejewelled scratch card – and he could barely believe his luck when he matched three symbols to win the top prize.

Mr Lilburn, from Loddiswell in South Devon, said he was initially stunned to win on the card he bought at the post office in Modbury on September 13. "I looked at it several times, but I still couldn't quite believe it was real," he said.

"This will certainly set me up for life. It will give me a good start whatever I do. The first thing will be to buy a car and take driving lessons because I don't drive at the moment, and after that maybe I'll put the rest towards property."

A car will make it easier for the butcher to show his support for his beloved Manchester United by visiting Old Trafford.

But first, Mr Lilburn, who works at Aune Valley Meat, and his girlfriend Jess Diable are heading off on holiday to Portugal. He had been changing a set amount of money towards the trip on a weekly basis to ensure they had enough to spend. But he said: "Now we won't have to worry so much."
