Would-be MP is sitting on the fence over fox hunting
I WAS interested to note from a recent BBC show that Torbay's Conservative candidate, Marcus Wood, would abstain from any future vote on fox hunting if he were to win.
This seems to go very much against the impression he has left people with that he is against hunting, when it is clear he is going to sit on the fence. I think this proves that Joan Mazumdar potentially should not put so much faith in his opposition to hunting (HE, April 14); all Marcus Wood really tells us is that he won't be voting not to repeal the ban, a completely different thing from opposing hunting.

For thousands of voters in Torbay who oppose stag and fox hunting, badger baiting and all the other cruel activities that would be made legal again if a vote went the wrong way, we need an MP who will vote against a repeal of this Act. Mr Wood is not that person.
