Herald Express launches Fuelwatch amid rising petrol costs
AS PRESSURE grows on the Government to act over escalating fuel prices, the Herald Express today launches its own Fuelwatch.
We will be monitoring petrol and diesel prices across South Devon as a way of helping local motorists save their hard-earned cash.
We are checking prices daily at a range of outlets across the area and will bring you an updated list each day.
Dr Sarah Wollaston, MP for Totnes and the South Hams, said she had been deluged by people complaining about the rising petrol prices.
2005 (05) MERCEDES BURSTNER T710 AUTOMATIC Motorhome, ....£29,995

She said: "It is a very serious problem.
"I hope the treasury will look again at the issue because it is starting to hurt the economy in Devon, especially as we are a rural area.
"I need individuals and businesses to write to me with examples of how much of an impact high fuel prices are having on them.
"I will then be able to make a stronger case to ministers."
Torbay Lib Dem MP Adrian Sanders is among dozens of MPs pressing the Government to take action to curb the high cost of fuel.
He has signed a parliamentary petition calling for the introduction for a fuel duty stabiliser.
So far he is one of nearly 60 MP to back the Commons motion.
The fair fuel stabiliser — a Tory pledge at the general election — would mean cutting the duty levied by the government when oil prices rise. The reverse would happen when prices fall.

“These two local MPs are members of the government.
I can't recall either of them voting against the increase in VAT to 20% or opposing the additional 1% increase in excise duty that came in to affect this January.
There were occasions in the past that the Labour government deferred any excise duty imcreases, a practice that Mr Osborne and his Tory-led coalition should have adopted this year.”
