Man charged after taking smoke grenade to Torquay v Exeter match

A TORQUAY man has been charged with possession of a smoke grenade after he was stopped attempting to enter the Torquay United v Exeter City football match.

The 18-year-old was arrested after he was found with the device at about 7.50pm on Tuesday, January 15.

He was detained at Torquay Custody Centre before being charged with the offence under the Sporting Events Act 1985.

He has been bailed to appear before magistrates on January 31.
