Man found dead had made threat
A MAN found dead in the stairwell of his home in Paignton had made threats to kill himself earlier that night, a coroner has been told.
Neil Farmer, a 49-year-old unemployed factory worker, died in the early hours of Saturday, August 25.
His body was discovered in the communal stairwell of number 70b on Winner Street by a neighbour.
There were initial reports that he had been involved in a large street fight outside a pub opposite his home but police have ruled this out.

An inquest into his death has now been opened and adjourned by the Torbay and South Devon coroner.
It has heard that Mr Farmer, who was divorced, made threats to take his own life after the altercation in the street, although he is not thought to have been directly involved in the 20-man brawl.
At about 8.15am he was found dead at his home address, a shared three-flat house in the busy shopping street.
Empty prescription-type medication wrappers and a half empty can of lager were found in his flat.
No note was found.
The exact cause of death has yet to be established pending the results of histology and toxicology tests.
The coroner has confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.
A fuller hearing will take place at a later date.
