A MAN who sexually exploited a schoolgirl after unscrupulously manipulating her has been convicted on all eight charges he faced.

At Exeter Crown Court 42-year-old Michael Simmons was found guilty on eight counts of sexual activity with a child.

Mr Justice Royce ordered reports to be prepared on Simmons and remanded him in custody until sentence later this month.

During the trial the jury heard Simmons seduced the girl and the abuse, which began with a kiss, ended up with full sexual intercourse.

The court was told he told the victim she was 'beautiful' and 'awesome' and she believed he loved her and was going to take her away with him.

But she later found out that all Simmons wanted was sex.

At one stage the pair had to 'cool' the relationship because his partner found messages on his mobile. He was able to convince her it was just a schoolgirl crush on the part of the teenager.

The court was told that later, at his request, the girl was to send sex pictures to him and he ungallantly showed them to work colleagues.

When these pictures were discovered by Simmons' partner he sent the girl a text telling her to delete all pictures from her phone and he was going to do the same.

But when the police were called in some of the incriminating photos were found.

Simmons, of Flete Avenue, Newton Abbot, had pleaded not guilty to all the offences.
