The wait is over and the 2012-13 point-to point season gets under way this Sunday at Black Forest Lodge in South Devon, where a natural grandstand means viewing is perfect to enjoy the thrills of racing.

The first of five races is an open maiden over two miles four furlongs, which comes under starter's orders at noon.

Entries include The Wealerdealer who was travelling well until a mistake at the last fence cost him his race at Holnicote in June, when ridden by Will Biddick.

The Club Members for novice riders could see previous course winner Timeshift find his old form, and Oakfield Legend, another entry, won the novice riders' race at Bonvilston and Llangeivor for Conner Flint.

Molland Gayle will be looking to take the Best Western Tiverton Hotel-sponsored restricted, following up her impressive win of a 13-runner maiden at Bratton Down for trainer Robert Chanin, with his son Ian riding that day.

The feature race of the day is the Strutt & Parker-sponsored mixed open. Of the 13 entered, the Stuart Penny-trained Manjam looks likely to act on the grounds and stay the trip. He's a winner of two races under rules, including a handicap hurdle over an extended two miles six furlongs at Fontwell in May, where he just got up by a head to beat Minella Mistake.

The Old Thatch Inn-sponsored open maiden concludes the card. Those to note are Gleann Ri and Goodtimesareallgone.

Bookmakers, a hog roast and a bar and numerous trade stands are on course and entrance is £20 per car load. The course is located at Kenton off the B3381, post code EX6 8NW.
