TORBAY Mayor Gordon Oliver will host the second Mayor’s Forum with the theme of regeneration and job creation in the Bay later this month.

The event, on Tuesday October 30 at 5.30pm, will take place at the Riviera Centre in Torquay.

A Torbay council spokesman said the forum is an opportunity for all those who are passionate about improving life in the Bay to hear about new projects and future plans from the council and its partners.

The event will cover updates on key regeneration projects including maximising the benefits of the South Devon Link Road as well as updates on the Bay’s Economic Strategy and key projects such as Oldway, White Rock, South Devon College, Palm Court and harbourside improvements.

The event will also focus on the Torbay Events Forum which was set up by Mr Oliver to promote small and large scale events across the Bay.

There will be a review of this year’s event highlights including the Olympic Torch Relay, Jubilee Celebrations and English Riviera Wheel and news of exciting plans for 2013. There will also be an opportunity to pose questions to the Mayor and invited partners.

Mr Oliver said: “I am very pleased to be hosting this second event and have the opportunity to showcase Torbay and its achievements.

"The last forum was very well attended and we hope that by holding this forum in the evening more local people will be able to attend.

“The evening will be an opportunity to hear about the council’s progress on our key plans and key partnership activities to regenerate and improve job prospects for the people of Torbay as well as learn some of the new plans we have coming up in 2013.”
