Visitors to Brixham will be able to park in the town centre council car parks for £1 for up to four hours on Saturday 24 November, Saturday 1 December and Saturday 22 December.
The offer is only valid in off street council car parks and does not include on street pay and display parking.
Executive Lead for Communities and Transport, which also includes parking, Cllr Robert Excell, said: "In the current economic climate it is important that we support the Bay's traders and not only encourage our residents to shop locally but also encourage others to travel into the area and spend their money in Torbay.
"The council is facing unprecedented budget pressures but we have been working really hard to find a package of parking promotions that strikes a balance between the funds available and the requirements of our local businesses.
"We know it is a very busy and expensive time of year for people so the free and discounted festive parking, within convenient car parks in the heart of the towns, is a way of making it easier and cheaper for people to do their shopping."
The initiative is being offered in partnership with the Town Centres Company in Torquay and Paignton, the Brixham Chamber of Trade and Babbacombe and St Marychurch Traders Association.

“What we need is permanent cheaper parking accross the bay or perhaps more short term free parking for 1hr.. 20mins free parking ala paignton car park is useless to anyone! It takes 5 just to walk from the car park into town!”

“Come to torbay and pay £1 to park. Then look and marvel at the endless rows of empty shops, dog poop and drug drongos”
