KENNETH WILLIAMS' waspish wit takes centre stage in this guaranteed laugh-a-minute evening, as Stop Messing About comes to the Theatre Royal stage from Monday.

Based on the eponymous 1960s BBC Radio show, Stop Messing About is set during a live recording, packed with outrageously funny sketches, parodies and songs.

This new show revels in the outstanding talents of Kenneth Williams, his Carry On co-star Joan Sims, his long time colleague and friend Hugh Paddick and a talented BBC announcer Douglas Smith who plays all the parts nobody else wants.

Stop Messing About was the first radio show in which Kenneth Williams actually starred and Robin Sebastian has won huge critical acclaim for his portrayal of Kenneth Williams.

He was last at the Theatre Royal in September 2009 in Round the Horne, Unseen and Uncut.

The production comes from the pens of comedy writing legends Johnnie Mortimer and Brian Cooke.

Mortimer and Cooke wrote many television situation comedies and sketch shows, including such well loved and award winning sitcoms as Man About The House, Father Dear Father, George and Mildred and Robin's Nest.

Together they wrote shows and series for such comedy legends as Bernard Cribbins, Marty Feldman, Frankie Howerd, Bruce Forsyth, Ronnie Barker and Tommy Cooper.

On his own, Brian wrote series for Leonard Rossiter and Paul Nicholas and Johnnie wrote a long-running series called Never The Twain for Donald Sinden and Windsor Davies.
