THE Military Wives (pictured) are to sing at Hannahs at Seale-Hayne, Newton Abbot.

The Plymouth-based choir will be special guests at the Newton Abbot Orchestra's Christmas concert on December 19.

The choir was one of two featured on Gareth Malone's TV show last year, the other being the Chivenor choir.

They recorded the number one single Wherever You Are and have subsequently released two albums, the second of which is currently in the top 10.

The choir is conducted by Rob Young who also conducted a mixed Military Wives choir featuring members of the Plymouth, Catterick, Chivenor, Lympstone and Portsmouth choirs at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

The concert will take place in the Great Hall where audiences can sit back and enjoy a seasonal blend of light classics and festive favourites, as well as a carol or two thrown in for good measure.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm performance.

Tickets are £5 and advance booking is recommended, call 01626 325800 for more details.

THERE will be music by Jon Tizzard and Stover Choir when Newton Abbot and District Committee hosts a Christmas Evening at the Jubilee Hall at Stover School, Newton Abbot, on December 6.

It will also include mulled wine and a hot buffet.

It starts at 6.30pm.

For tickets, call 01626 365945.
