Monty Halls to speak at Living Coasts in Torquay

A TOP TV personality and two talented local artists will be making it a wild weekend at Living Coasts in Torquay on Saturday, October 20.

Torquay’s coastal zoo and aquarium will be hosting a talk by TV adventurer Monty Halls, along with displays of sculpture by Scott Gleed and photography by Kate Westaway.

The talk by TV presenter, marine biologist, travel writer and diver Monty Halls starts at 8pm. Best known for his BBC series Great Escapes, Dartmouth-based Monty will be discussing his experiences diving in British and international waters and revealing some of the wonders of the marine world that he has encountered on his adventures.

Tickets, which include a drink on arrival and a buffet after the talk, are £8. Afterwards, people will be able to view an exhibition of marine wildlife sculptures by Scott Gleed and underwater photographs by Kate Westaway.

Scott has been artist in residence at Living Coasts during the summer, Many of the pieces on show are the result of his time at the zoo and aquarium, where he has worked indoors and out on site and led workshops art for children. International photographer Kate Westaway, a former Torquay Girls' Grammar School pupil, launched her new book, ‘Wildlife Monographs: Humpback Whales’, in April.

The free art exhibition will be open all weekend.
