A NEW eco cafe in Shaldon has seen a bumper opening weekend, with rock stars Muse among its first visitors.

Chef Tim Bouget timed the opening of his new Cafe-ODE to coincide with the visit of the Olympic Flame, and it exceeded his expectations by a country mile.

The cafe at Ness Cove saw up to 200 people queuing to get in, with Muse stopping by on the day they carried the flame over Shaldon Bridge and into their home town.

Mr Bouget, owner of the acclaimed ODE in Fore Street, said: "It has been manic and non-stop but absolutely brilliant."

The cafe has emerged from the redevelopment of the former Ness stable blocks and a new extension.

Mr Bouget said: "You can never prepare for the fact 200 people are going to be queuing at your door but the team did a fantastic job.

"Muse came up before and after they acted as torchbearers."
