When he questioned the lads, who were with a group of friends, who the bike belonged to they were unable to answer him.
PCSO Martin seized the bike on the suspicion it had been stolen but his inquiries as to who it may belong to have drawn a blank.
He said: "I've searched our files and can't find any reports of it being stolen or lost," he said.
"There were a group of youngsters with it on the common and a couple of them were using it.
"They stopped when they saw me and when I asked them who owned it they said they didn't know.
"I seized it on suspicion of it being stolen and told them whoever owned it should come and get it but no-one has come forward."
The bike is described as a child's Suzuki off-road orange and white motorbike.
"It wouldn't be ridden on the road by an adult or anybody, it's a tiny child's off-road motorcycle," PCSO Martin added.
"It was a very nice bike at one point, but it's been trashed now and it's very nearly unrideable.
"I would have thought it belonged to somebody but nobody has come forward.
"I can't question the youngsters who were riding it again because no complaint has been made about the bike so there's nothing for us to charge or speak to them about.
"If the bike is not claimed it will be disposed of."
