Naked man 'filmed nude 11-year-old'

A NAKED man used an 11-year-old girl's mobile phone to film

her cycling in the nude on a cross trainer as a bribe for

letting her stay up late, a court heard.

Exeter Crown Court was told 38-year-old Martyn Dodd was

meant to be looking after the girl.

Prosecutor Mary McCarthy said one evening when Dodd was

naked, he told the girl there was something she could do for

him if she wanted to stay up beyond her normal bed time of

7.30pm.

He said she could take off all her clothes and run naked,

then get on the cross trainer and ride on it without her

clothes on.

“The 11-year-old took that inducement and, having removed

her clothes, she got on the bike trainer,” said Miss McCarthy.

“Then she looked round and was rather alarmed to see Dodd was

pointing her mobile phone at her and filming her. She got off

the bike and Dodd then hugged her.”

The prosecutor said there was nothing abnormal about the

actual hug except they were both naked.

“The prosecution say that it was grossly inappropriate for

him to hug an 11-year-old naked,” said Miss McCarthy.

The jury heard Dodd then told the girl she could put on her

pyjamas and she was allowed to stay up a little later than

usual.

He also told her not to tell anyone about being allowed to

stay up, or the circumstances of how that had come to

happen.

Later when the girl was spoken to by the police she said the

same thing had been repeated on a second occasion but that time

there was no filming or hugging.

The alleged offences came to light after the girl told a

school friend and her father what she claimed had happened to

her.

Dodd, of Hestow Road, Kingsteignton, has pleaded not guilty

to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity by removing

her clothes and riding a cross trainer.

He has also denied a second charge of sexual activity with a

child aged 11 and the trial continues.
