MORE than 100 people attended a 'Naturally Arty' day at The Berry in Salcombe during half term week.

Families enjoyed the sunshine and engaged in a wide range of activities making the most of naturally available materials.

The activities focused on natural works of art, including sticking leaves back on to trees to create woodland boggarts.

There was also mini kite making, badge making, plaster casting and clay play.

Nicky Bailey, community projects officer for the South Hams Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty organisation, said: "It was great to see so many children and their families out enjoying the fresh air.

"Events such as this are an excellent way to engage younger people in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and help them appreciate in a ‘hands on’ way our fantastic landscape.”

The event was also supported by Devon County Council and South Hams District Council as part of a programme of events designed to help people learn more about the protected landscape of the AONB. Details of the full programme featuring a range of events can be found online or from the AONB Coast and Countryside leaflets at information centres, libraries and other outlets across the area.

“They look a bit too young to be at the Berry Inn Salcombe.”
