HMV has opened its new shop in Torquay.

The music firm threw open the doors to the store, in the old Waterstones building, last week.

But the official opening took place on Monday, with solo singer Boy Who Trapped The Sun (Colin MacLeod) cutting the ribbon.

Nipper, HMV's iconic Jack Russell, also put in a special appearance at the opening.

Manager Emma Bartlett, 27, said the event went well.

"We opened to the public last week, and the reaction so far has been great — customers are really pleased with the new, bigger store.

"They come through the door and make comments that they like the store and all the extra stock we are carrying.

"The store is so much bigger, and the sales have increased since we have been here compared with the old store."
