New boat going to world championships
GIG rowers from Paignton Rowing Club christened their second wooden Cornish pilot gig on Saturday.
Members from the rowing club's gig section celebrated the event on Paignton Harbour and are now looking forward to taking her to the World Pilot Gig Championships in May.

The club took ownership of Storm three weeks ago.
Gig committee secretary Gill Knight said: "Since her arrival, the real work has begun. Storm has been stripped back to bare wood, and repainted in Paignton colours.
"Our urgency was compounded by the opportunity for a late shipping entry to take Storm to the Isles of Scilly for the World Pilot Gig Championships in May with a shipping date of Monday, March 8."
She thanked members who have been involved and companies who had contributed materials and workshop space.
Rev Julian Ould from Totnes, who was the vicar on St Mary's, at the time she was built, performed a blessing her before her renaming.
Storm was christened by local author,
Herald Express
columnist and former Torbay pilot Bob Curtis before the club's gig rowers and officials
