New weather warning as rain sweeps into South Devon
THE Met Office this afternoon issued a new weather warning for the West Country as downpours continued.
This morning there was surface flooding on main roads in Torbay as torrential rain added to problems already caused by weeks of intermittent rain.

The new warning covers a period from Monday lunchtime until midnight.
It warns of occasional spells of rain, heavy in a few places, affectin more southwestern parts of England during Monday.

It says that following the recent wet conditions, the public should be aware of the risk of possible disruption to transport and localised flooding.
Rain is expected to be heavy in places, although Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are most at risk of the heaviest downpours.
As much as 30mm of rain could fall in places.
Two hundred and fifty sandbags were given out by South Hams District Council as flooding hit homes across the region at the weekend.
The council’s Totnes depot opened at 9.30am on Saturday for residents to collect the sandbags to help protect their homes and businesses.
People arrived from Broadhempston, Dartington, Littlehempston, Staverton, Totnes and Tuckenhay to pick up supplies.
The Council’s Emergency Planning team were also able to give advice and information to Littlehempston Parish Council and local residents affected by the flood water.
Three Council workers, who serve as retained fire fighters in Totnes, were called out in the early hours of Saturday morning and spent the day helping people affected by the flooding.
