Torquay United winger Niall Thompson less bulky than he was last season
GULLS winger Niall Thompson (pictured) insists that, far from 'bulking up' this season, he's actually slimmed down a little.
Many Plainmoor fans have been impressed by 18-year-old Thompson's powerful 'look', assuming that the Derby-born ex-scholar had done some extra work during the summer.

But Thompson says: "In fact, I thought I was bit too bulky when I came back for pre-season.
"I had been going to the gym every day and doing a fair bit of weights and power work.

"But I've eased off that stuff, because I was starting to feel a bit heavy and sluggish.
"I've always been quite a chunky lad, so I don't think I need to chunk up.
"If people think I'm looking a bit bigger, it must just be the effect of full-time training with the first team every day.
"And I'm definitely not on any special diet."
