Tim Bouget, owner of ODE, said his team was "very honoured" at the recognition.
He said the "eco ethos and organic policies" of the restaurant, which opened in 2007, were to "work in tune with the environment".
"We hope ODE will inspire and encourage chefs and restaurateurs to become involved with the SRA to understand the importance of sustainable practices in our industry," he added.
The SRA described ODE as "superb" with a "huge commitment" to sourcing local and seasonal, high welfare food, water and waste management and treatment of staff.
Mark Linehan, SRA managing director, said the awards proved that "dining out sustainably is not the preserve of the rich or the London elite".
"With the dedication shown by these restaurateurs anyone can run a successful hospitality business in a sustainable way – precisely what diners want," he added.
Plymouth's River Cottage, recently opened by Devon-based celebrity chef and food campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall also won plaudits for sourcing fish, meat and vegetables from local suppliers in South Devon, including deliveries of produce by sailboat.
